Calling a priest (except your biological father) "father

Talk about Jesus Christ, the unblemished lamb of God, whose blood washes away the sins of the world. Our helmet of salvation.

Calling a priest (except your biological father) "father

Well, this is really bugging me, and after reading some catholic materials it has been bugging me even more! So I'll get to the basics, at our catholic school there is a priest titled "father michael troy," and all catholic priests are called father (obviously). But the bible says this: "And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven." -Matthew 23:9 this makes it quite clear, call no man your father (but your biological father is obviously an exception because he is not just any old man to you, just the same Christ is not a "man" towards you).

I stumbled across a catholic forum and someone said this:

"Your replies are good. "Call no man Father" is easy because St. Paul calls himself "Father" in the Bible. "For I became your father in Christ Jesus through the Gospel," 1 Cor 4:15."

So here is the verse with the NIV
"15Even though you have ten thousand guardians in Christ, you do not have many fathers, for in Christ Jesus I became your father through the gospel."

BUT, the catholic church worked hand in hand the "re-write" the NIV, so let us see this verse with the king james, God's true word: (I like how that guy says "it's easy," well of course it is if you rewrite the bible to say what you want it!)

"15For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel."

Oh! That looks a LOT different now doesn't it? Father is gone! Was it magic? No, it is the true word of God that we looked at.

Now here is a verse which should be enough that only GOD can forgive sins

Mark 2:7
7Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
(Even the pharisees knew that, which I found amusing)

And we can't have any people to convey the forgiving of sins or anything like that (i.e. priests or mary worship) ONLY God is our mediator.
"For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus" -1st Timothy 2:5

God Bless you ALL, trust in Christ and never give up! Tough times we live through indeed, but we have Christ on our side so this should be suffice? right?
