It means that God came to earth to take the place of the lamb sacrifice and to ultimately become the true Lamb, who is of God. He died in place of our sins, just as the lambs did. But He is the Holy Lamb of God for His sacrifice was one and for all. Since the Lamb has be sacrificed, we must, as the Israelite did, consume the lamb. If the lamb wasn't consumed in the Old Testament, the first born children would die. Also, the sacrifice was also made null and void. Thus, Christ created the Lamb's Supper. In this, we receive the grace given through His sacrifice.
